In Regards to the content i feel that the children are being exposed to sexual activity and drugs etc more and more that too at a very early age via media and internet so i personally feel that a protection device should be put on the televisions and the computer with Aouthariasation
I believe the best way is for parental control; parents should know what their children are doing.. the next would be for parents to be able to lock certain channels/shows.

I believe the content that children see should be the problem of the parents and the parents alone. The government should stay the heck out of it and its time for the parents to do some parenting.

Access Control Devices are worthless and will never be anything but a better puzzle game for those like me. When I have a child, I'll likely decide to purchase one in hopes my son/daughter is able to circumvent it. If they can't figure out how themselves, then I'll teach them how.

I believe that parents should be responsible for taking the steps to be aware of what their children are doing on the net, also the games and t.v. programs being watched to a certain extent. The biggest deterent is to keep communication channels open with your children and discuss things with them so that they are informed about things they may come in contact with. You cannot shelter your children from the real world for very long, better to give them the skills they will need to deal with life.
This looks like market research for a censor chip. The most detrimental effect that media have on children, and I have seen this happen, is not by corrupting their morality but by reinforcing stupid marketed aesthetics.

I think that it does have an effect. If a young child around the age of 7 sees sexual acts and violence all they time on tv as he's raised. It makes that child think nothing of those and be more inclined to act in that way because they don't know its a bad thing. I think today's society has grown disgusting. I do not watch primetime television anymore. I find it disgusting.
As a Computer Games Designer, I believe the POSITIVE effects generated by computer game use are HUGELY mis-represented. I spent many many hours playing computer games as a child and I have developed into a perfectly well functioning individual, with high intelligence and social skills.
First, the idea that a parent has the right to limit the stimuli which reach their children makes me grimace. Only in a world which treats children as property of their parents would it strike fear and loathing into the hearts of parents who found their children accessing "inappropriate" material. Individuals so self-assured of the authority of their own moral sense and probity that they believe their perspectives and interpretations should perforce be impressed into the heads of another (their children). People make me laugh at their ignorance.

I think internet affects our children by teaching them bad words, no manners, sexual content and it leads to online predetors. If a child has an e-mail account, they should have parental controls and parents monitoring their acess to a computer.

I strongly believe that kids now days play to many video games. I have personal experience what effects it has had on my oldest son. I had to completly take video games out of his schedule. He was gaining to much wait cause he never wanted to play outside like most kids his age, and his grades were falling. I also strongly believe that parents should know what there kids are doing at all times. If they are surfing the interenet check up on them periodically, check the history anything you have to do to know they are safe in what they are doing.
I believe that the parents should regualate what their children are watching, and I believe that the V-Chip would be the most appropriate way of doing this.

Although my son is now a grown man, when he was younger I took an active interest/concern in what he watched on TV, the type of music he listened to and how much time he spent playing video/computer games (today I would also be very worried about what internet sites he wanted to visit). This debate was active even then and my answer is the same - You are the parent, so do your job! It isn't for the government or other social body to determine what/when your child watches TV, plays video games or what music they listen to - it is YOUR job, as the parent, to make sure those things are appropriate in content and the amount of time they are used. The control devices are a good idea - to a point - it gives the parent control over what devices/media is being used and when...but nothing will be better than a parent that actually does their job and takes the time to be interested in/pay attention to what their child is spending their time doing and listening to.
The media now runs our society. It decides what people are interrested in and how they behave. Because of the media (tv and internet) children are less interrested in reading and in education and more interrested in killing brain cells while sitting on the couch watching trash. I think the best device people can use to prevent their children from things they don't want them exposed to is themselves. Monitoring and interacting with your children on a regular and consistent basis is essential for children to learn from their parents rather than T.V. and video games.
I think each family should control children access to what parents consider it's unapropiated for their kids, because not everybody has the same limitations and sometimes the actions outside the screen (at the streets, home domestic violence, etc) are worse that the TV content, for the children to watch.

Control devices in today's world to control children is highly essential to maintain and sustain appropriate and desciplined behaviour to build a better world for the future.
One of the main corrolations in my opinion is the fact that with technology growing, video games, television and the computer are sometimes used as a babysitter with limited or no supervision in order for parents to keep their children entertained with as little involvement as possible. I think parents should pay more attention to their children. If they did then they would know more about them and what they are going through, and why.

Violence is a natural part of life, as is sex. why try to sheild our children from it so it becomes more of a shock later in life and has more of a chance to mess them up
Parents / teachers are the solution. Educate children early with a decent set of values and how to resist temptation received from peers into doing what they know is wrong.

i think as long as there is clear content listed on a tv program and videos then it should be up 2 the parents to censor their kids. As for the internet it should be between the government and the parents, the parents at home and the government to ristrict what is on the internet e.g. kiddy porn!!!!!

i think parents should be more aware of the fact there are many site online about drugs,pornography, and violende ect out there. Parents should speak to their children about the topics instead of blocking them out completely. Speaking to children about these topics will limit the chances of looking online and wanting to watch the movie that are on television.
The thing that concerns me the most is internet access and how simple it is for our children to access sites that they do not belong on.I know for computers there are things to control where they can and cannot go. I do not know about any devices that can control television access, but I feel as far as television and video games are concerned that is all in the control of the parents. They should be aware of what their children are watching. Same for video games parents need to set limitations if its a game that is inappropriate obviousley you don't buy it. As for it affecting our children I believe some of the stuff does affect them but from what they don't learn on television, internet, or video games they will learn it somewhere else. It is the responsibility of the parents to set rules and kids need to know there will be consequences for their actions.

I think it is up to the parents to control what their child is watching on tv, viewing on the internet, and what games they are playing. A device could be helpful to this problem but if a parent pays attention to their child a device wouldnt be necessary.

Parents should be able to guide their children whenever they whatch TV. A parental lock device that use password protection for ratings is necessary.
I don't think tv or video games or music has any negative effect on children at all. I think it's used as a scam for people to make money off of parents fear.
I feel the best way to monitor what your children are exposed to is proper guidence from parents. They should have enough control of the childs environment to know what they could possibly be exposed to.

There is no substitute for parental monitoring of their children's activities.
I don;t think it is actually all that much of a problem, as long kids are aware that whillst it may be fun and stress releiving to blow up people on a computer, for example, this is innapropriate behaviour in real life. I believe most kids do know this, and those affected by such games/tv programs etc, are probably more likely to behave antisocially etc anyway, without such stimulus.

Parents/people should screen games purchased for minors. Also, control the amount of hours the minor spends with videogames.

not really a big issue for me yet. Whats on tv is pretty easy to control. If you dont like it, dont get cable. And if that is still problematic, find some way to cut off access. I know a tv is not that hard to shut off. Internet is harder, and it is much more nesicary to general life these days. Some way of regulating the excessive amount of porn would probably be good. But Again, it comes down to teaching kids well, and checking up on them.

People caring for the children need to take more responsibility in enforcing their opinion of what's appropriate for the children and how much time the children are alloted on these devices.
More effort should be taken by those who regulate TV shows and movies played on regular TV channels and those who control the content contained on the internet to allow only shows/internet content that is appropriate for children of all ages and does not contain inappropriate language, sex, drugs, or violence. Children should be exposed to those things at the parent's discretion or once they reach the appropriate adult age.

I think that some of the content that is exposed today on television and the internet should not be exposed to younger children, but it is. I think that this does affect their behavior in some ways.

The government needs to interfere with the media's disgusting moral standards and reverse them. This is all a problem of what is being marketed in Hollywood and TV corporations. The Internet is somewhat harder to control. But I think that what is happening on TV and movies today is just totally unacceptable. Some video games are equally unacceptable, also fueled by the media. It's all the FCC's fault and the general values of this generation. There really is no way to stop it on a miniscule measure of simply putting out an access control device, because that won't change the content that the children are being exposed to in the limited amount of time that their access is being "controlled."

Any device that could electronically disable a video game or a device that could block out internet or television locations would be a great asset to our society. This would slide the power from the outside forces and into the hands of the parents.

The real cause behind this, and other issues related to child exposure to inappropriate subjects/experiences is parental involvement. Unfortunately, it has become all to common for parents to let others (government, TV, piers, etc.) raise their children.
The ultimate device is parents getting involved and not leaving their children unsupervised. Parents keeping up with the latest games, t.v. shows and movies. An infomed parent is a better parents.
