I do wish the stores wouldn't up the prices on the bears though espec ally when they have first come out.

• Beanies are adorable and used to affordable little toy that the children could collect, we could afford to buy when we went shopping as a special just because you are special treat. The secondary market has ruined it for those of us who just want to buy an affordable toy for the children, that is non-violent and that they can use their imagination to ppplay with. My Granddaughters line them up all in a row and sing to them, play school with them and the list can go on and on. They are a great toy for t e children. Come on Grownups.lets stop ruining it for the children!
• I think that the fun of Beanie hunting has gone. It is a fun thing we did with the great grandchildren, but now the greed of many has taken over and we cannot find the new ones at affordable prices. Being on a fixed income limits the special things you can do and buy for the special childrenin your life and its a crying shame that a few have ruined it for so many.

I know how dissapointed the children are when if you can find a new one the retailer has a high price put on it, or they are sold out to secondary marketeers(racketeers is more what they are).I refuse to buy from a secondary market person and we GRANDMAS would unite maybe we could STOP THE MADNESS and put the seco dary people out of business. • I love collecting beanie babies, and I don't even mind the lines so much. Often I have a really good time in beanie baby lines getting to know other people and sharing the latest rumors about beanie babies. But I really hate it when people take the fun out of the beanie baby line by trying to cut in, grabbing from others, pushing, etc. It can be a really fun thing, and it should be fun.
• Love the tie-dye variations-it keeps the collection constantly active to find new color combinations. I started collecting beanies for my 7 year old son, but collect Claude and Iggy for myself.

• I think Beanies are great! I started late (spring of 1998) so I have had a lot of catching up to do. The secondary market is the only way that I have been able to do this, so in that way its good. But as with all things there are good secondary market dealers and bad. To the good ones out there, keep up the good work, you are appreciated. To the bad ones, every dog has its day, and you will too!

• I've been amazed at the prices new & retired beanies are selling for. I'm wondering how long this will continue. Alot of the people that I know that collect beanies are wondering if it's time to sell, before the prices drop to nothing. I've also had the experience, when selling some of my beanies (Duplicates mostly) that people know how much they are selling for, but expect me to sell them for MUCH less because I'm not a retailer. Why should they expect that since I bought them, held on to them in mint condition (sometimes for years) that I should re-sell them for 5.99? I just don't understand. Do people who buy on the secondary market really pay hundreds for mint retired beanies?

• I really hate that Ty dealers sell their products out the back door to the secondary market. Then the secondary market sets whatever price they KNOW people will pay. It's unfair to real collectors!
• I think that there is a place for secondary dealers (supply/demand) BUT I don't think that retailers should sell out to these dealers before allowing the public to purchase their stock at 5.00-7.00. I think there should be a 2 per person daily limit per style (new) and 1 per person for bears (to be handled via a lottery if supply is too low). I love the animals personally and think they're absolutely precious. Yes, I want to make a profit from some (mainly to subsidize my collection) but only $1-5 p r animal until it appreciates. I like the beanie auctions. I think there should be store raffles for kids and contests to win a COMPLETE set of beanies.

• My 2 year old daughter loves positioning all 100+ beanies around her and reading animal picture books to them, matching up the beanie baby to the pictured animal. We love the cute beanies... and find them to be a learning guide as well as an always-availiable friend.

• I think Ty needs to wake up and do something about the retailers that are charging outrageous prices for the bears. Beanie hunting used to be fun, but now you don't only have to find them, you have to find them at a price thats affordable. The problem isn't the secondary market, its the retailers and that is something Ty could control if they so choose. Ty stopped selling to the only store in my immediate area that actually sold all of their beanies for $6.98(bears and recent retireds) because it was 't a fancy gift shop but they are still selling a store that is giving out a wooden nickel for every $25.00 you spend in their store and when you accumulate ten(wooden nickels) of them then you can buy Erin or Glory for $6.00. That's $250.00 you have to spend in their store before you can buy a bear. I really hope that Ty takes control of their retailers before I lose all interest in their beanies.

I really hate the way the adults have ruined it for the kids in being soooooo greedy..........buying up at retail stores and selling them at outrageous prices, almost knocking kids over to grab a toy (beanie) , grabbing them out of kids hands, never having a chance to even get one (usually the bears) because the supply is soo limited........etc..... I have seen a couple retail stores sell the new bears at 25.00 to 50.00 or more......wha happened to 5-7 $$, I myself have a few bears but now have for myself to collect other bears more available and if I happen upon a beanie my older daughter doesn't have I will get it for her, but I refuse to pay anything higher than 5-7$$ for a $2.50 toy!!!! Sorry but I'm kinda sick of the whole beanie mess........very cute product though!

Most of the May 97 retireds have all been remade and sold on the secondary market and quite a few people have been upset about that like me. I buy and resale retired beanies and have came across many counterfiets. I have watch others buy them as well. I saw a bogus Grunt go for 142 dollars in a show which would have otherwise been a great deal. I wish some of the people making the bogus beanies would stop it before this hole business goes downhill. Im sure that making these bogus beanies are quite profitable and I can see why they reproduce them but it is wrong so if one of you guy that make these fake ones are reading this please understand what you are doing to this market and that you will tremendously affect it soon by making fakes. I purchased a fake Tie-Die lizzy for 7$ just to keep and show others, but there are so many more like this. BUYER BEWARE BUYER BEWARE!!!! you too will come across these fakes so keep yo r eyes peeled O.K.?

• Some sellers ar making you buy large amounts of the currents to be able to purchase l new one or the bears. which is very unfortunate for people who already have them and my children can't afford to buy that way which is a very big dislike

• I think anyone selling currents (including new ones just out) for more than the current price should have them taken away. This secondary market is getting out of hand. There is a store where I live that has lots of currents, is not a TY dealer and is selling them as secondary market. I think they know someone who gets them from TY and instead of selling them for the $5-7 prices, they are letting this other business sell them as secondary market and making a huge profit. That is not fair. Especial y when some kids (like my own) are looking for these and doing everything they can to make money to be able to afford these beanies.

And that mess with McConald's - there were people walking around with bags full of the same animal. People are just way too greedy about this whole thing.

• The main thing I dislike about beanie hunting now is that my daughter and I go to the retailers that we buy our beanies from and they usually do not have any beanies and if they do its the ones that we already have. All the Ty retailers sail out in the mourning and I have to work during the day we still have not been able to get any of the new ones yet but we will wait . The reason I feel people collect beanies is that its something they can invest in and enjoy doing it , face it beanies are so v ry cute and they people together .

• I live in a large city and luckily have a large selection of stores that carry beanies to shop at. But, I increasingly find so many beanie shoppers who are so spiteful and really act crazy! I usually find this when standing in line before a store opens, that kind of thing. I think so many people have lost the "joy" in collecting these precious creatures. It is humorous to see how the adults and children practically have a reverse role. The adults are the ones acting like kids! • If retailers would put their stock out when they receive it, and not keep it in the back for drawings or ration how many they put out at a time, you would be able to get your collection complete instead of having to partake in drawings, etc.
• yes, as a TY retailer I would like to make a few comments. First of all the FTC has rules and regulations about pricing...Ty can only suggest a price, but they cannot make anyone sell their product for a certain price. Second, we are one of the people that make you buy one old one to buy new ones...we do this to keep the secondary market from clearing the shelves out in 5 minutes, if it wasnt for these rules we set, you would not be able to get your hands on them at all. You have to realize that if t e merchandise is out for sale we have an obligation to sell to anyone who comes in to buy as long as the product is out for sale to everyone...besides most of you out there taking the survey are making the statement that this is for the children, and your right it is, but when adults get this upset over a stuffed animal...it's turns us into children and the children become the inteligent ones...Just some food for thought!

Stores like Log Cabin Souvenirs in Nashville had the best prices in that area but yet they are now not able to get Ty products any more because of ownership change. The store is a retail gift shop and has had Ty products for three years and now can't get any , it doen't seem right. Other stores in the area are charging very high prices for beanies. Thank you

• I was very disappointed in one of Ty's authorized dealers, Marshall Hospital in Placerville, California, who told me over the phone that they had Erin, Princess and three new releases and would be selling them the following day. I took off work, was fourth in line and waited to make my purchase. When the gift shop manager arrived, she had taken the beanies home the night before, bagged them up for hospital employees and refused to sell any of the bagged beanies even though they had not yet been paid or. Fortunately, since I was fourth in line I was able to purchase Princess, whisper, tracker and jabber for $6 each, but she would not sell Erin. Also, I was the last customer to buy any new releases and Princess. They just refused to sell any more. There were at least 100, if not more who didn't even get a chance. It seems to me that would be considered diversion under Ty's policy. There were many people who went away empty handed. If they didn't plan on selling them, why did they assure us over he phone that they had any at all? Anyway, just want to get this off my chest. I was very disappointed in the way it was handled.

• I dislike how nasty some people have become, particularly Hallmark Retailers. Beanies have brought them in, I'm sure, obscene amounts of profit, but they are very very nasty for the most part when it comes to anyone who even mentions "Beanies". It is very frustrating. Also, authorized retailers who only call regular customers when the rare, htf beanies come in and not make them available to the general public. These are supposed to be a fun collectible primarily for kids, but I would be ashamed to ave my kids see the behavior of some of these collectors!
• TY should be more available to BB consumers to hear about their dishonest retailers! While there is a TY survey going on right now, many of the questions aren't relevant and there is no place to add comments. I'd like to see TY DROP the retailers who are not abiding by the rules! I've also heard that BB collectors are rude but my experience has been that the retailers are rude. If they don't want to deal with lines and phone calls they should stop selling TY products! I resent having to purchase $ 0-$100 in "other" store products to purchase an Erin bear for $7!!! TY - where are you? Have your sales reps check on these retailers and report back to you!!!!!

• Ty bugs me.....they say the beanies are for everyone and yet the way they produce them it causes a greedy secondary market.....and on their Ty network they show how much they care by never letting people know when a hacker has messed up their site.......a message comes on stating you have behaved inappropriately.....I for one am switching to Disney Beanies more and more and I have been collecting for a few years....Ty never answers anyone........cashes our checks for Clubby and hasn't sent one out to d te that anyone can verify....Ty cares about profit.........show me where they care about us.........
• You need to add new beanies to your lists of beanies in some of the questions. I think beanies are really cute and it's just a bonus that it is possible to make money if you guess right about the market and are willing to be patient for your own collection and are persistent with finding them at retail. I don't like spending more than retail on beanies. I have invested a bunch in my collection, so I am trying to get some back by selling and I really like to trade--am almost done collecting all the b anies back through Oct. 97. I do think the market is going to basically dwindle--new ones will no longer appreciate in value even after being retired. And older ones will stay the same or go down some as fewer people collect and we have almost no new collectors. I mean--get real--how rare can a beanie be when there were 5 million made of it? And many more of the teenies--and yet they are still selling for more than they cost. Bizarre! I would never invest more than I can afford to spend on beanies--t ey are just for fun and not a serious investment. If you want to invest, buy land--they aren't making any more. Or do an intelligent portfolio of stocks/bonds/safe bank investments/etc. Don't get me started on mutual funds--talk about a way-overpriced volatile market! :)

• I think people are getting crazy over these beanies. I was in a store a couple of days ago and the new Beanies were in. A man that worked for the store threw a box of beanies at the crowd and the all dove onto the floor onto the box. They were stupid. One man who was holding his 1yr old daughter dove on the box and his daughter's face hit a metal shelf very hard. He didn't even really care. He just wanted a Glory Bear. A man in his 70's pushed my daughter who is 3 1/2 years old. All she was doing was l oking through a box of older beanies. That's terrible that the adults act worse than little kids when it comes to collecting Beanies.

• My husband and I enjoy the Beanie Babies and the hunt of them. We bought a special display case for them and put it in the kitchen. The grandkids think it's great and now they want them too. • Again and again I have run into unethical retailers and people who just do not understand what is feels like to be a mother with 4 children collecting. • I think it's fun and healthy. Not happy with the way Ty allows secondary market to horde all the bears and new releases and dealers cannot get them. Would enjoy smaller production runs to keep values up, but also don't make us go crazy. Well, the predictions are that the bottom is going to drop out of market. If Ty produces large quantities, then this will happen. If Ty were smart, and he is, he'll do another major retirement. Forest critters will be retired so new ones are due.

• I'm very disappointed in the Ty dealers in this area. Our local flea market is flooded with very high priced new releses, however our local stores are still waiting?? • My personal Beanie Babies torture method: 1. Rip off the head 2. Pull out all the stuffing 3. Take out the beans 4. Rip off the eyes and feed to dog 5. Unstitch every hem 6. Use cloth to make a decorative placemat so when guests come over they can say, "Oh, what lovely placemats you have. I might have that Beanie Baby." Then they ask," Where did you get it?" • It disgusts me that secondary dealers have beanies by the gros and alot of Ty dealers don't even have them yet its impossible to buy a bear for under $50.00 even from Ty dealers in my area.

• I filled this out for my daughter (5) yrs. these are her answers. she said to tell you it's not fair that a dealer tried to rip her off, on the phone he told me he had Peace and after driving for an hour to Marble Falls from Austin one of the clerks refused to sell her the bear for under 60.00 the woman said peace was retired. Katie said she left crying because her allowance is only 5.00 a week and I refuse to pay a dealer more than 7.00 for any current beanie baby. Katie says TY should stop them from doing that.

• Ty should regulate prices on All beanies for all merchants. There are four beanie dealers in my town. One sells them for $4.98, one sells for $5.49, one sells for $5.98, and the other tries to get $14.99! Kids are so confused by it, and the parents get upset too. What's reaaly aggravating is the price-fixing in the secondary market, but I guess Ty can't control that.

The quality of some of the older currents had gone down, but the new ones that were just released are of excellant quality. • I feel that the Beanie 'Fad' will go on forever. They have a great catch to the marketing. They 'retire' some and that make the beanie crazy fans want them even more. Then they bring out new ones so the collection never ends. It also in a way is a contest on who can get the most, the most valuble, the most wanted, and simply who has the MOST. All in all Ty is doing pretty well but they need to work on thier supply and demand.
• I work in a store with a ty account so I hear it all day long and I see what the latest trend is. Gobbles and Chocolate are common retirement speculations: chocolate being obvious because original 9, gobbles because it is a lot of work. Bruno is one also because nobody buys him. He is ugly. He is never on backorder. The dealers have stopped buying him so ty will probably stop making him. Another I would like to predict along with the rest of the world is WISE.

• As an authorized TY dealer, I am personally infuriated by dealers who sell out the back door, sell at flea markets, and overprice the products...especially the new designs and the bears. Ty Warner is a man of high personal integrity and I am proud to affiliate my store with his company. There is NO EXCUSE for unethical dealer conduct. We have a standing invitation with our reps to move excess inventory to smaller Ty accounts. I wish the greedy secondary market people would leave me alone. I will ever sell in large quantities to them and I'm tired of being called ugly names by these people. I love Ty Warner, Ty products, and cherish this opportunity in my little store. I jokingly say that in Heaven, it will be God, then Jesus, and then Ty...yep...he beat out Mother Theresa. I wish all the collectors would just be patient. For example: my sister lives in South Carolina with two children; the woman across the street from them recently got all but I think two of the newly released beanies and it was all because she knows the owner of a small retail store. • I had a secondary market "salesman" tell me once, "Its terrible what they(TY) are doing to us (buyers). This guy had dozens of boxes of Beanies and Teenie Beanies. Many of the Beanies were in the Ty bags. He ordered them from Ty and was selling them at a flea market for the second market price list he got off the internet. I believe Ty sells alot of beanies to dealers who immediatly sell them on the secondary market, not to their regular customers.
• I am an "ex" beanie addict. At the height of my obsession I had some 95 or so. I sold all but a dozen or 15 of them for triple what I originally paid for all of mine. I try to stay away but occasionally the mania seeps in again. I think it's gotten worse even since I gave it up and I hate to see hordes of beanies languishing on NYC store shelves . . . but it was nice while it lasted!!!

• Thank goodness for retailers who recognize that there are children who save their allowances to purchase beanies and therefore sell them at the original recommended price in the $5 range. If secondary dealers are making huge profits, why shouldn't TY charge more? It frustrates me that my children cannot purchase a bear for under $20 in most cases. We will continue to collect Beanies, but only from those dealers who sell them for a fair price.

• I totally dislike the dealers on the secondary market that take advantage of children. I was at the beanie babie day at shea stadium and there were so many dealer there hawking kid for there beanies offering them five to ten dollars cash for their cards knowing that they had a value of fifty to one hunrede fifty dollars. I know of one child that sold his card for five dollars when his aunt went to get him a soda she was very upset at the way the young child was swayed into thinking that five dollars wa a great deal. I have also waited on line with my daughter to buy the new releases a noodle kidoodle only to find that they sold out becauese of the dealer that brought van loads of people including children to stand on line for them , when they make their purchace and walk into the parking lot the dealers pay them for their time and take the beanies . their are many kid from this town that didn't even have a chance to purchase the beanies because of these grungy looking and slimy actions of these rude dea ers. this has been a fun sport so to speak but this type of creepy dealing does not sit well with many parents.
• My children used to purchase BBs for themselves or they would receive them as a reward for a job well done. They have a variety of accessories to increase their playing enjoyment. The unfortunate thing about this phenomenon is that we have had some very negative experiences attempting to purchase BBs for selves or for gifts.

• my biggest problem with the beanie's is the way they hold the bears. i know it is a great marketing strategy, but how do you explain to a 7 year old that he can't have Erin, or Glory because there over a $100.00? i have been adament about waiting to find them for a decent price. i can say that i have'nt paid more than 8.00 for my bears. hang in and wait and you'll find them resonably.

• I think Peace , Erin, and Princess should be easier to get ie. more plentiful stock. If you're not at the store when the receive their shipment, forget about it. Who has time to run to the store every time they get a shipment? Some of us have lives but we still like Beanies!

• I like the fact that you can invest as much or as little as you want or can. You can invest "piece meal". There is certainly the thrill of the chase. I really got into this for my future grandchildren, but then my one daughter started noticing how carefully I was looking over each one and checking the tags.

• More and more authorized dealers are selling to secondary market or friends and family. I know this because at a local antique mall, a 14 yr old kid was stocking his case with Glory, Fortune, and other new releases. I asked him where on earth he found so many of them (no stores in KC area will admit to ever receiving the bears, Believe me I call the all regularly). He said there are several shops that sell to him direct. This is what will destroy the beanie boom. When the only source for a Glory b ar is an antique mall for a price of $165.00, the end is near. The children particularly are excluded. Ty should not introduce a new release until it can ship in quantities significant to eliminate this problem.
